Frequently Asked Questions

Does a release stay up?
Yes. A published release keeps its address. The organization that filed it can take its own newsroom down, and doing so removes what that newsroom filed. PRBASE does not expire records on a timer.
How should I cite a page?
Use the page address, the organization name, and the publication date shown on the release. If the release was filed from somewhere else, cite that original too. The page links to it.
A company changed its name. What happens to the old releases?
The newsroom address does not change, so the old releases stay where they were cited. The display name on the newsroom can be updated by the Owner.
How is this different from a wire service?
A wire service sells placement on other outlets. PRBASE keeps the announcement itself, readable and searchable, at no charge. Distribution to other outlets is available, but it is not why the archive exists.
Who can file?
Anyone with an account can file under a personal profile. Filing under a company requires a role on that newsroom: Owner, Manager, and Publisher can file, an Editor can draft.
I found an error in a release.
Write to [email protected] with the page address and the correction. Factual corrections are logged against the record rather than silently rewritten.
