How an announcement becomes a record someone can cite.
Filing is free. The point of the process is that the finished page says who issued the release, when, and where a reader can check it.
1. Set up a company newsroom
A newsroom has one address, /newsroom/your-company, and it never changes. The person who opens it can invite colleagues as Owner, Manager, Publisher, or Editor. Claiming a newsroom that already exists is also free, once you show you represent the organization.
2. The release is either written or cited
Write the full text here, or submit the URL of a release that already ran elsewhere. Cited releases keep the link to the original, so a reader can see that PRBASE did not originate them.
3. Someone checks it belongs in the record
Submissions pass an automated check for format and category. What the check does not clear is read by a person within one to three business days. The question being asked is whether this is an announcement from an identifiable organization, not whether it is flattering.
4. The page gets a permanent address
Published releases are filed under the newsroom, the category, and the date. The address stays put, which is what makes it citable.
